About.

Ben was born and bred in his small town of Stonehaven, a beautiful tourist attraction by the seaside, though there's plenty the tourists don't see. Ben's attraction to the guitar and music is his older brother David's responsibility. David got Ben into music when Ben was just 7 or 8. David taught ben how to play guitar and introduced him to artists such as Gun's and Roses, Black Sabbath, Bob Dylan and many more. Ben's taste's quickly spread to all corners of the spectrum from bon jovi to the wu tang clan! Once he hit secondary school Bens guitar had sat in a corner gathering dust for years until jake bugg released his self proclaimed album. After hearing this, ben began learning songs from the album. Shortly after ben had began to write songs and recite covers religiously.

When Ben turned 18, he started going to the weekly open mic/jam night at his local, the Hook and Eye where he worked. This is where he had the chance to play with other musicians and work on his own style. He received massive support from his boss Duncan and from his brother Geoff, his parents and regulars at the pub which he states was 'entirely the fuel for my persuit in music'

Ben Lee Collett is an indie artist from Stonehaven, a small town just south of Aberdeen, North East Scotland. The way he has infused his blues, folk and rock and roll influences into his indie passion has created a very unique yet catchy sound you can definitely jive to. His  intricate vocal melodies aided by the gritty growl in his powerful voice make his songs impossible to dislike.

The Community Beat was formed as a method of exposing the incredible talent that dwell's in Stonehaven. for years the talent had been there with no outlet. Acknowledging this, Ben and other local musisians decided to create the community beat and hold gig's, promote local music under this name. make sure to check out the Community Beat facebook page and like it.
